Morden Figure Skating Club By Laws and Policies
Fundraising Requirements
(Updated August 2024)
The Morden Figure Skating Club (MFSC) uses as gift card fundraiser to help keep registration costs as low as possible.
It is a requirement of all skaters to either participate in the gift card fundraiser or pay a “buy-out”. The buy-out amount is equivalent to what the club would collect from fundraising. The amount of the fundraising requirement and buy-out may vary from year to year. Please check the registration page for the current requirement.
How it works:
CO-OP and Spenst Brothers Premium Meats allow us to sell gift cards to their businesses at a dollar for dollar value. They then give MFSC 10% of the value for all the gift cards sold. Therefore, you pay $100 and receive a $100 gift card and CO-OP/Spenst pays MFSC $10. We are very thankful to these businesses for their generous support!
MFSC will give a fundraising form to all skaters. As a participant you may purchase gift cards for yourself, or you may choose to sell gift cards to friends, family or co-workers. Remember, they get the equivalent amount in gift card dollars (e.g. pay $50, and receive a $50 gift card). You are responsible to keep track of who you have sold to and to collect the money for the gift cards. Cash or cheques (payable to MFSC) are accepted. You then return the form and money to MFSC on the date specified on the form.
In approximately 2 weeks, gift cards will be distributed to you and you are responsible to then give them to the people you sold to.
If you do not want to purchase or sell gift cards, you are required to pay the “buy-out”. The amount is specified on our registration page.
Gift cards for Spenst Brothers can be used at their Winkler location. They sell a variety of meats, pizzas, breads, and prepared meals. Gift cards for CO-OP can be used at any Canadian CO-OP grocery stores, gas bars, fashion/appliance/furniture stores; however, we encourage you to use them at our local Gardenland CO-OP locations.
Please note, funding assistance cannot be used to pay a "buy-out" as per those organizations' guidelines. If gift card forms are not returned on time, the "buy-out" fee will automatically be charged to your account. Skaters will not be permitted to skate if these requirements are not met.
If you have questions, please email the Fundraising contact listed under the “Contact Us” tab on our website.
