Kyla Itterman

Coach

I started in the CanSkate program at age 5 and fell in love with the sport. I skated singles and synchro, and still compete on the Pembina Pizazz Adult synchro team. I started coaching because there was a need for coaches in the rural communities, and to share my passion for skating. I have been coaching for about 20 years, am a National Coach In Training, and have completed Respect in Sport and First Aid.

Asten McGill

Coach

I started skating at the age of 4 and continued until I was 18. Highlights of those years was the many synchro competitions I attended with my teams- including 2 trips to Nationals. At 18 I switched to playing hockey for a few years before finding my way back to Figureskating. Coaching was an excellent fit for me as it combined my love of teaching children with my love of the sport. I have been coaching for 6 years. I am canskate coach certified, and am in the process of becoming Regional coach certified- I am currently, “in-training”. When I’m not coaching and not teaching at our local elementary school you can find me either on the ice doing synchro with my teammates or talking to someone about why they should be on my team skating synchro.

Almira Penner

I have been skating since I was 3 years old and coaching for over 20 years and have coached in 6 different skating clubs over the years. My favourite disciplines to coach are skating skills and dance.  I am a Regional Certified Coach with Respect in Sport, Making Ethical Decisions, and Standard First Aid.

I’ve always enjoyed synchronized skating and am currently skating with the Pembina Pizzaz adult synchronized skating team.

Jessica Kagan

Coach

I started skating at a very young age.  I started the CanSkate program when I was in preschool.  I was trying to keep up to my older siblings and loved the skating carnivals.  I have been a PA for several years for the MFSC and I was recently certified in the following courses: making ethical decisions, respect in sport, standard first aid, and Canskate coach.  I have been coaching for one year and I chose coaching because I enjoy watching skaters smile when they develop skills they thought they could never do before. My favorite skill to practice and teach are the spins, because they are achievable at all levels. They can be simple or complex.  My favorite spin is a flying camel catch.

Ky-Lynn Jenner

Coach

This is my first year coaching (2023). I became a coach to share my love of the sport with the next generation of skaters. In training CanSkate coach, Respect in sport certified, Making ethical decisions certified, emergency first aid certified, safe sport certified, code of ethics certified. I love practicing jumps, especially new ones I’m still learning.
