PCOVID-19 Skater, Volunteer and Spectator Requirements - STAR SKATE
COVID-19 Skater, Volunteer and Spectator Requirements
StarSkate Version
(Subject to Change)
(Updated November 21, 2021)
- Masks
Masks are required for all persons when entering any indoor public space (participants, coaches, volunteers, spectators, etc.). For exemptions, please see the current public health orders on the Government of MB website: https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/prs/index.html#provinciallevel
Athletes or participants engaged in physical activity may remove their mask while engaging in the physical activity (on or off the ice). When not engaged in physical activity, masks must be put back on (e.g. Leaving the ice surface, in washrooms, etc.).
- Vaccination Status
As of September 3, 2021, anyone who is 18 and older must be fully vaccinated in order to enter into an indoor public facility, even briefly (e.g. even to tie skates). Please be prepared to show proof of vaccination as well as personal identification. Accepted forms of vaccination proof will be those as indicated by the Public Health Orders or government website.
As of December 6, 2021, persons who are at least 12 years of age but who have not yet reached 18 years of age, are required to have either the following to participate in youth sports:
- a) Proof that they have received one dose of Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine for COVID-19, or
- b) Proof of a negative rapid COVID-19 test result within the previous 72 hours that is confirmed by a pharmacist
Children who are under age 12 can enter a facility as a spectator if they are with a fully vaccinated adult.
All skaters must sign in for EACH session using the MFSC sign-in tool:
or by scanning the QR Code at the rink.
If necessary, this form can be filled out by parents before the skating session so that skaters do not need to have a phone with them.
- Illness/Travel
Please follow current self-isolation guidelines in terms of illness and travel. If you are unsure of whether or not you should be isolating or reducing contact with others, please consult the Shared Health screener:
https://sharedhealthmb.ca/covid19/screening-tool/
In the event that a participant appears unwell, a Skate Canada Professional Coach, or Club Executive, has the right to remove the person from the activity.
- Physical Distancing
All skaters, coaches, volunteers and spectators must follow physical distancing guidelines. Coaches are allowed to have brief exchanges with skaters.
To reduce congestion in dressing rooms, MFSC suggests that skaters who cannot tie their own skates enter and exit the arena with their skates on whenever possible (remember to use skate guards).
- Capacity Limits
The amount of spectators in the indoor and outdoor viewing area must not exceed the Access Event Centre’s guidelines.
Other:
- Please enter and exit using the appropriate marked doors both when entering and exiting the Access Event Centre and when entering and exiting the ice.
- Skaters must get ready in dressing rooms and sit in the designated areas which will be marked 2m apart
- Skaters must use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the ice
- If a skater needs medical attention the coach will be required to wear a mask and gloves if a parent is not available to help them
Club executives and coaches have the authority to ask skaters, members, volunteers, coaches, etc. to leave if they are not following the above outlined protocols, and those of the local facility. MFSC will not tolerate disrespect for the rules and if necessary, skaters may be removed from the program without refund if there are compliance issues.
